Nike+ is a co-marketing project made by Nike and Apple. With this system you can synchronize your shoes and your i-pod to track all your sport activity [storing it in a web database]
... but everyone know that...
Nike is promoting the never-ending challenge between men and women just using the data in the database to see which group are performing best.
