Invasion of the panda

With only 1600 pandas alive worldwide, WWF thinks it's really time to take care of the panda now.

This is what they did. They took 1600 miniture pandas and placed them on a area in Lyon. Just so you can't deny this terrible fact.

Very impressive.

Shinichi Maruyama who was born in Japan was always surrounded by big, great, beautifull mountains. The landscapes inspired him so much, he began taking pictures of it.
With these pictures (above) he was inspired by the beauty of the Japanese elegance and perfection.
Maruyama also made a documentary called 'Into the spiti valley', about Tibetan culture in India.

Trash Advertising

day 1: A yellow billboard

day 3: An image

day 10: A complete message on the billboard made by pollution, dust, papers and...

It is a good idea to promote a glue that came from The Miami Ad School

The question is: Does it work? What will be the real effect? Is it good for company awareness (actually it is trash)??

The curious case of Berjamin Button is not a curious case anymore

We don't want spoil anything about the movie.

We want only say that this is the movie page on Time Out Sydney and Olay is an anti-age product.

Who have seen "The curious case of Berjamin Button" can understand the power of this print campaign.

Listen to good old Albert E.

Whilst reading the Brand Republic blog I stumbled upon an interesting article. The article itself was resonable, but the quote cited at the end was the most memorable and utterly correct. It was all about attitude and perspective. Read it here below, take what you need from it and make sure you survive the recession!

“Let's not pretend that things will change if we keep doing the same things. A crisis can be a real blessing to any person, to any nation. For all crises bring progress. Creativity is born from anguish, just like the day is born form the dark night. It's in crisis that inventive is born, as well as discoveries, and big strategies. Who overcomes crisis, overcomes himself, without getting overcome. Who blames his failure to a crisis neglects his own talent, and is more respectful to problems than to solutions. Incompetence is the true crisis.

The greatest inconvenience of people and nations is the laziness with which they attempt to find the solutions to their problems. There's no challenge without a crisis. Without challenges, life becomes a routine, a slow agony. There’s no merit without crisis. It's in the crisis where we can show the very best in us. Without a crisis, any wind becomes a tender touch. To speak about a crisis is to promote it. Not to speak about it is to exalt conformism. Let us work hard instead. Let us stop, once and for all, the menacing crisis that represents the tragedy of not being willing to overcome it.”

Do you remember you're first time?...

Sonja + Michele + Lieke

Last September after a short course graphic design on the MK24. I decided to go back to school in Utrecht. I started at the Graphics Lyceum this is one of the most exciting and frightening steps in my life, because you know what you had but don't know what you going to get and I'm a bit older then the most people who start.

In November I started my traineeship here at swordfish media it's a small company where I'm learning a lot about web design. Now I've been here a few months I know a bit more about this industry and I can say that I really like this work a lot and I'm very enthusiastic about design Really it's my thing!

Nike+ is a co-marketing project made by Nike and Apple. With this system you can synchronize your shoes and your i-pod to track all your sport activity [storing it in a web database]

Nike is promoting the never-ending challenge between men and women just using the data in the database to see which group are performing best.

But "Swaziland" Is an Amusement Park, Right?

This summer I´m going for the very first time to New York and now I´m doing all kind of research to have a great time being there.

So when I was surfing around the internet I found this and it´s actually a bit cross-medial. It's about people in New York who (accidentally) overhear other people and write these conversations down on the internet.

It's like you're everywhere and can here everything, but nobody can see you. Great for people like me who are (secretly) very nosey..

For a living Baltic Sea

WWF made a beautiful printed campaign in Sweden to make aware about the fishes' dead in the Baltic Sea.

As you can see there are several species of fishes upside down (as dead fishes are). If you turn the magazine they become live:

"For a living Baltic Sea.
Help us turn things around. Donate €5 by texting WWF to 72 900"

Very effective!

Waterfall or Twitterfall?

Ever witnessed a waterfall in real life?

How many people can say this (okay apart from those living a few miles away from Niagra falls). Sorry, drifting a bit here because in truth we can't bring you a waterfall, now matter how much we would love to. But fear not blog readers because we were tipped via Twitter (of course) by self proclaimed 'Renaissance Man' Hoof about the Twitterfall. Still figuring out if it's at all useful, but either way, it's pretty cool. You can personalise the fall by interval, animation, language and other handy bits and bobs. Check it, play with it, use it, enjoy it!

Beautiful stories in TV advertising

Television is great for getting brands out there. At this stage we all know that it's no longer about efficiency, but pure brand awareness and an investment that large companies are willing to make. Our vision would be to utilise traditional with new media and so combine brand awareness with effective pursuit, only then can such a campaign and the expense of television advertising be justified.

A wonderful television campaign which shall never be forgotten is from RVS Insurance. The story is simpel but the effect and message is magnificant. A wonderful way to combine the company image (logo) and the feeling which we all seek....Safety. Enjoy!

May I please, please have your business card?

A view posts ago, we talked about the new type of a business card.
While following all kinds of blogs, today we came across a very special kind of business card of Lego. We suddenly secretly all want to work for Lego. Their idea is great and it looks fantastic. What they have done is this. When you work for Lego you’ll get a business card like the picture above and they actually make it look a bit like the person where it´s for.
How great is that? Talking about being creative.
A brilliant example of using the best of your brand.
For more great examples of business cards we would recommend you to have a look at the site quicksprout.com.

Posting like a Machine [the Kit Kat's Brit campaign]

Last week we talked about Kit Kat's tv commercial.
Monsieur BeN from Marketing Alternatif asked more information about the Kit Kat's UK campaign.

So that's the answers:

The base concept is "Stop Working like a machine and HAVE A BREAK".
So the campaign is made with
- a product contest named "Win a perfect break"
- a very very funny interactive website with game, videos and funny stuffs
- brilliant tv commercials
- an ambient marketing activity

Now I am feeling really tired writing this post... do I need a Break®??

Interesting figures

Traditional marketing budgets are increasingly shifting to digital marketing and why not? Internet marketing is often more cost effective, builds awareness quickly, fosters relationships and is measurable in ways traditional advertising just can’t match. Within the world of digital, there are many, many options and considerations. Situations, circumstances and objectives vary, but the commonality of digital delivery, interaction and measurement brings this poll together.
